Motels of Texas

Resplendent in retro hues of peach and avocado, the Budget Inn is a bright spot in otherwise depressing Sanderson, Texas.

The motel is owned by a friendly Indian man named Danny who brings you a tray of snacks after you check in, and a sandwich his mother made that's like Tex-Indian fusion grilled cheese.

He says that if you like it, his mother will make you dinner around 8. Vegetarian okay? You eat everything? You say yes. And he does.

The Shamrock Country Inn is another great example of marvelous low-budget lodging:

From Aaron, the proprietor:

We are the highest rated hotel in town, you know why? Room is SPOTLESS. So we charge extra for dog because dog requires extra cleaning. That’s why we’re #1. Come tomorrow for breakfast between 6 and 8, you get scrambled eggs made from REAL eggs, no powder, and biscuit and gravy and waffles. You will like it! Also room has two complimentary bottles of water, one on coffee tray and one in refrigerator. Does Holiday Inn or Marriott give you free water? No! That’s why we’re highest rated. But most important, bed is comfortable. That’s why you’re here, right? For good night sleep? You enjoy, your room is cool, already cold for you. See you in the morning. Goodnight.
